06/07 Booklist

Below are the books required for each level of classes. Some of these books can only be purchased via mail; so do not wait until the last minute. It is very possible to obtain many of the Literature selections from the library and if you plan on doing that, be prepared to find the book as soon as it is assigned.

If you start your search early it is possible to find many of the books used.

Here are several great places to find these books. Please note that it will be difficult, if not impossible to purchase the entire list from one single source.

A few notes-
I have aimed to create a booklist that is streamlined and enduring…the enduring part added some stress :). But my goal here is to require only the books that we need for actual study and lengthy examination. I would like to make things simple but deep for you and me! So collections of poems and short stories made the list. Most single stories did not make the list. Books that were good, but did not provide enough meat for some in depth work did not make the list.
We, as always, have more picture books set aside for the year than we can ever hope to get through, but they are not required purchases for each family. Group I will still read many picture books and I will have a list of the books we plan to read in class, but you can choose to purchase them for your own home, check them out from the library or just let them be “class books.”
You will see that we are not using the Veritas History manual this time, thus the new CFT history binder takes its place. The price of this binder is TBD, but it will be our own collection of support materials.
There are SO many books relating to the stories of the Old Testament and Ancient Egypt that can be read. I have many and we will use many, but you are able to make your own choices about these extra books. I highly recommend the use of many additional books!
You will notice that we are not using a Shurley Grammar Text this year. Never fear-we will be applying the concepts to the sentences in Winston Grammar. We simply needed a new source of sentences :).We will also be using a simple program called Fix-It alongside to reinforce practical grammar and mechanics.
Books marked with the parentheses are for the advanced grades of each group-as in the 6th graders of Group II and the high schoolers of Group III.
